genymotion installation guide

Genymotion allows you to have a virtual Android device on your computer.

Downloading/Installing Genymotion:
  • A guide on registering, downloading, and installing Genymotion: https://cloud.genymotion.com/page/doc/#collapse4
  • If you have no idea what is going on and you just want to play Cinderella Contract, add a new device that is a Samsung S3 (version 4.3).
Google Apps / Play Store Compatibility:
Genymotion does not come with support for Google Apps. That means if you did the first part above and open your virtual device, it will NOT have Google Play Store on it. The following directions will allow you to use a Samsung S3 (version 4.3) on your computer.

A) Downloads for compatibility:
  1. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2528952
  2. From the main post, download ARM Translation Installer which should be a .zip file. (screenshot)
  3. From the main post, download Google Apps for Android 4.3 which should be a .zip file. (screenshot)
  4. From the second comment, download genymotion-no-java.zip (screenshot)
  5. Extract the files from [4] only, and remember the location. Do not extract the files from [2] and [3]. (screenshots)

B) Apply changes to Genymotion:
  1. Make sure you can find genymotion-no-java, which should now be a folder (NOT a .zip) (screenshot)
  2. Open Genymotion and go to Settings. (next to Play, Add) (screenshot)
  3. From Settings, click the ADB tab. (screenshot)
  4. Select Use custom Android SDK tools.(screenshot)
  5. Browse for genymotion-no-java and open it. Select android-sdk-tools (note [1] above; they should both be folders) (screenshot)
  6. If you picked the right folder, there should be a pink check mark with the message Android tools successfully found. Otherwise click around until you get the right folder. (screenshot -- note that i'm using different sdk tools here)
  7. Apply the settings.

C) Apply changes to your virtual device:
  1. Open up the virtual device you created and wait for it to load properly. (screenshot)
  2. Drag and drop the ARM Translation Installer .zip file over to the virtual device window. (screenshot)
  3. A pink frame should appear and you should be able to flash the file over.
  4. When it completes, close and reopen the virtual device.
  5. Repeat [2-4] with Google Apps for Android 4.3 .zip file.
  6. When you reopen the device, it should start updating and Google Play Store should appear in your apps (from the main screen of your virtual device you can click the bottom icon with six little boxes on it).
  7. Sign into your Google account or create a new account and start downloading from the Play Store!

    1. yep! i mean extract the files from genymotion-no-java.zip, but don't extract them from the other two zipped files. i'll work on an imgur album but it might take a while xD

    2. Thank god... Winrar activities usually confuse me. I extracted but it didn't come up with what the next step entails. It had files inside files.

    8. Still encountering some issues D: I moved the ADK thing over to the virtual device but it caused errors and crap ugh. I'm going to remake my virtual device to see if that helps.

I am so close to giving up idk what it wants of me. The issues arise when I flash the arm over. When I close the device, I can't reopen it...:C

will update as soon as that finishes.
      hope is low, frustration high.

    13. if you have trouble connecting to your virtual device, you might not have the wireless connection enabled properly? double check under Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings to see if the connection with virtualbox is in working order.

    14. hmmm so you successfully put the sdk tools (folder) into the genymotion settings and then tried to flash the ARM files (.zip) over into your device but it didn't work? make sure you didn't try to flash the sdk tools into the virtual device.

    15. if you create a new virtual device does it run properly and have no problems before you try flashing anything over? or do you run into any problems at all before flashing the ARM files?

    16. ok so... I ragedquit haha. But now I'm desperate again so I'm willing to give it another go. Thank you for helping btw.
OK so it would start having issues when I'd flash over the ARM thing. Idk what I am doing wrong. Do you do teamviewer by any chance? haha
